FAQ's - Frequently asked questions

  • What is Duke's?
Duke's is an indoor and outdoor dog sport complex with over 10 acres dedicated to all things dogs! The facility has three dock diving pools (1 indoors/2 outdoors), a dedicated Fast CAT and Frisbee field and a SAR field that offers unconventional agility obstacles for dogs. We teach dogs how to swim and dock dive. We also offer sessions where you can use the facility without a trainer to just let your dog swim, play frisbee in the fenced area or to practice your dock diving techniques. We also hold monthly dock diving competitions, group classes and group rentals.
  • How do I get my dog started?
The best way to get started is to schedule a 30 or 60 minute "new client introduction" session. We will have a trainer onsite to make sure you and your dog are properly introduced to the facility and the pool. Head over to the "book online" tab of the website to get started.
  • When are you open?
We are open Tuesday-Sunday, closed on Monday all year long. For all of our hours, please visit "Our Hours" page of the website.
  • Can my dog just swim?
Absolutely! You can use our facility to simply have fun with your dog in the pool, to exercise your dog, to swim or to even work on rehabilitation from an injury.
  • How old does my dog have to be?
12 weeks or when they have had their second round of booster shots.
  • Does my dog have to be a dock diver?
Absolutely not! Many of our clients enjoy simply letting thier dogs swim in the pool for low impact exercise and FUN!
  • Do I need to have an appointment?
Yes! You can book an appointment with us on our book online page.
  • What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?
All rescheduling/cancellations must be made online 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. You can use your confirmation email to reschedule or cancel. If you do so within this timeframe we will issue a full refund (minus the 3% PayPal fee) or credit to be used towards a rescheduled date/time. If you do not notify us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment, you will not receive a credit or a refund. Many customers will find a dock diving friend to take their appointment if they are unable to make it with less than 48 hours notice. Please note if you scheduled your sessions via a package and cancel your session, they will be returned to the package and no refund will be issued. We reserve the right to refuse any future appointments to clients that have missed or canceled multiple appointments.
  • What happens if the weather impacts my session?
We are an outdoor facility. In the event of inclement weather, we will close the facility. This is only if there is lightning within 5 miles of the facility. We have a lightning app that we use to monitor things. Often there is no way to provide advanced notice but we do our best to call you as soon as we can if we need to close. We do play in the RAIN and COLD! The pool is heated. We will refund or credit you in the event we have to close unless you are more than ½ way through your appointment. We only had to close twice last season due to lightning.
  • What if my dog is in heat?
If your dog is in heat, please reschedule your appointment. No dog will be allowed at our facility if they are in heat. You will be asked to leave if you show up with a dog in heat. If it is less than 48 hours notice, we will require a vet note to reschedule your appointment at no charge.
  • Are vaccinations required?
All dogs must be up to date on vaccines. This includes Rabies and Distemper. Titers are accepted.
  • Can I bring a friend?
Yes! Additional non household dog add $10/30 minutes or $15/60 minutes for a privtae session. (This is if you are bringing an additional dog that doesn’t live in your household i.e. a friend and their dog sharing your session). Please note that your friend must be a past client of Duke's who has already completed their new client orientation session. There is a maxium of 2 households per session.
  • Do I have to get in the pool?
You do not have to, but depending on your dogs level of confidence, having their human get in may be what it takes for them to be comfortable enough to go in the pool. If you are a new client or booked "with assistance" our trainer is also able to get in the pool with your dog but it is usually their favorite human that does the trick.
  • How many dogs can I bring?
There is no limit for same-household dogs during your private session. However, there is a maximum of 2 dogs allowed on the dock at a time. Please plan accordingly.
